These spooky castle silhouettes are a quick and fun way for students to learn about creating art with collage techniques. First graders used basic shapes and simple folds to create towers, walls, and hidden doors. Second graders had the added challenge of transforming the flat silhouette into 3-d forms that stood on their own. Both grades had fun adding spooky (or not so spooky) details to their designs!

Art students have been busy painting pictures inspired by fall trees. Painting trees gives us a chance to practice our skills in painting lines with variety of thicknesses and directions. The second half of the project involves adding animals, leaves, and other finishing touches with markers and paint.
Our Display My Art pictures have just been completed! They will be mailed first thing next week and returned with a custom magnet and brochure for each student. There is a lot of variety among student work because I did not choose a specific subject or method for all students to follow. Instead, they were asked to sketch out several small ideas before arriving at their final design. My hope that was to magnify and appreciate the uniqueness of each artist at this stage in life. Many of the projects revolve around family: special people, special places, and special PETS! Great work everyone!
