Our latest project: Origami Penguins! These delightful little characters were inspired by a brilliant little book titled Beautiful Oops. In it, the author explores the process of turning mistakes into opportunities. I found that this forms a natural connection to the idea of having a "Growth Mindset", Two of the main mental factors in having a growth mindset are accepting challenges and learning from our mistakes - two things needed for accepting the challenge of Origami!

What is your inspiration? Every artist has one. That certain somthing that gives you an idea and motivates you to create. For John James Audubon, it was birds. In the early-mid 1800's Audubon found himself on a mission to carefully illustrate a collection of artworks featuring the birds of America. His famous book of that same name is a tribute to his passion and talent for illustrating the natural world. "Wild Turkey"
Plate 1 of Birds of America JJ Audubon Students at Schavey are finishing up their own cardinal paintings this week. Our work combines our knowledge and skills in painting lines, shapes, and texture. We typcially worked in stages: first painting the background and cardinals before cutting and assembing the finished artworks. |
