Schavey students are creating their own fairy tale pocket books. The books are made through folding the paper in four panels in such a way that a pocket is formed in the back of the book. The pockets are the perfect size to hold puppet characters made with 3x5 cards. As an added bonus, the four panels can be set up as pop up scenery for the setting of the story. I have been seeing lots of great knights, princesses, and ninja-princesses!

We have started working on our school wide mural project. A special thanks for a generously provided grant from the DeWitt Elementary PTA for making this project a possibility! The grant allowed us to acquire canvas and HUGE mural-sized easel to paint on and help display our work. Each student at SRE has had the opportunity to make their mark on the mural. We started with a colorful background in shades of green, blue, and yellow. These colors provided a backdrop for decorative frames to begin filling the canvas one at a time. Students and teachers have both enjoyed watching our individual efforts build on each other and grow from day to day. The plan going forward to is add a mini-self portrait of each student!
